WHEELING – The Maroon Knights kicking into high gear out of halftime to pull away for a 85-49 win before their home crowd on Coach Skip Prosser Court.

Kaitlyn Blake piled up 35 points in the game, followed by Addie Payton’s 18- on six 3-pointers- and 10 for Bella Fitzsimmons.

Wheeling Central led 36-27 at halftime, but scored 30 points in the third quarter to lead 66-38 going into the final frame.

Payton and Fitzsimmons combined to hit five 3’s in the third, and Blake scored 12 points.

Rayna Hoover scored 23 points for Weir.

The two teams know their upcoming postseason matchups in the WVSSAC’s new super regional format- Wheeling Central has a first-round bye and will face the winner of Oak Glen and Tyler in Class AA Region 1, and Weir will face North Marion in Class AAA Region 1. The tournament begins next week.
