WEIRTON – Monday’s game between the Madonna Blue Dons and Valley Lumberjills was a back-and-forth game with the Blue Dons getting the final push.

Building a 22-13 halftime lead, Madonna watched as Valley pulled within three points, 29-26, at the end of the third quarter.

The Blue Dons had a big fourth quarter in store though, winning the period 12-3 to secure a 41-29 victory before their home crowd.

Christianity Bartley led Madonna with 17 points, including four in the pivotal fourth quarter. She made three 3-pointers.

Madi Owens followed with eight.

Elynn Derby paced the Lumberjills with 10 points, seven in the second half. Michaela Miller scored eight and Laken Dawson scored six.

Madonna next faces Steubenville Catholic on Jan. 4 on the road. Valley likewise hits the road to play Magnolia on Dec. 28.
