GEORGE GANTZER III

“With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George E. Gantzer III, age 80, of Canal Winchester, Ohio. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 12, 1944, in Wheeling, West Virginia, to the late George, Jr. and Ruth (Altman) Gantzer. He graduated from Triadelphia High School in Wheeling, WV in 1962, where he made lifelong memories on the basketball court. He then attended and graduated from West Virginia University. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Patricia (Cerra) Gantzer; children, George E. Gantzer IV, Julia (Nicholas) Grilli, and Jenna (Nate) Dray; grandchildren, Georgia Gantzer, Samuel Grilli, Gianna Grilli, Siena Dray, Serena Dray, and Stella Dray; siblings, James Gantzer, Snookie (Bill) Isaly, Russell Gantzer, and Gregory (Becky) Gantzer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, George, Jr. and Ruth Gantzer, his dear sister, Ruth Bennet and his beloved mother-in-law, Angela Cerra. Friends and family are welcome to visit on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at The Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, formerly known as Saint John XXIII, in Lithopolis, OH at 5170 Winchester Southern Rd. Funeral Mass and luncheon will follow at 12:00 PM. Arrangements and cremation with care have been entrusted to Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, Canal Winchester.”
