STEUBENVILLE--Former Eastern Gateway community college president Michael Geoghegan and two people associated with the controversial Student Resource Center were indicted Wednesday by a special grand jury in Jefferson County.
The 24-count indictment alleges Geogheghan, the college's fifth and final president who served from May 2019 through June 2024, was part of a criminal enterprise involved in theft in office, tampering with records, telecommunications fraud, money laundering, receiving stolen property, bribery and having an unlawful interest in a public contract.
Also named in the indictment were Michael Perik, SRC founder, co-owner of Higher Education Partners and owner of US Skills Inc., an educational software licensing and consulting company, and Nicole Rowe Colclasure, who was part-owner or had a management interest in several of those ventures.
The indictment alleges the scheme yielded more than $1.5 million in illegal profit payments.
The indictments come nearly three years after the Auditor of State's office raided the Steubenville campus, hauling away computers and documents and subpoenaing personal bank records for certain employees.
