Long-Awaited Dunkin’ Donuts Opening in Wheeling Is Monday

At long last, Dunkin’ Donuts will be rolling out the orange and pink carpets in Wheeling come Monday.

The East Coast-based fast food coffee and donut chain is slated to open their new location on National Road on Monday morning after months of anticipation. Signs indicate that staff training at the new location has been taking place behind closed doors while maintenance teams landscape and prepare the Dunkin’ parking lot, which sits next to Sheetz and across the street from competitor Tim Hortons.

According to locals, Dunkin’ will be a welcome addition to the busy strip of chain restaurants and stores.

College students at nearby Wheeling University look forward to the donut chain bringing more convenience and another food option to the area.

Two WU football players, Jermawn Ford and Dasyn Hores said they are excited about the opening.

“That’s all people are talking about,” Ford said. “It’s very convenient for the Wheeling community, now they’re putting something nice in. We don’t gotta go over to the Highlands for something else.”

Ford said he anticipates a line every Saturday and said the new location will be particularly convenient for students and players alike on game days.

“The donuts are gonna be good,” Hores said. “It’s gonna be quicker and easier and faster.”

Wheeling University soccer player Miguel Martin said Dunkin’ brings another desirable coffee option to town.

“It adds a little more to Wheeling,” Martin said.

Starting at $2.99/week.
