The Intelligencer / Wheeling News-Register

MOUNDSVILLE - The Marshall County Fair rolls into the fairgrounds in Moundsville on Sunday, July 20 through Saturday, July 26. This year's event promises to be bigger and better than ever thanks to our generous sponsors and hard-working volunteers!

There have once again been many improvements made to make the grounds more comfortable and attractive to visitors. Expansions continue in the barn areas to accommodate an ever-growing number of livestock exhibits.

The "corner kitchen," ice cream booth and FFA stand have all received a facelift as well. As time passes, the fair board strives to provide the best facilities to house exhibits, as well as to provide comfort for their patrons.

The 2014 Marshall County Fair will have something for all ages. Traditional favorites, such as livestock and horse shows, truck and tractor pulls, horse pulls, and the Queen's pageants will be paired with these exciting on-grounds shows: Chase's Racing Pigs, Kachunga and the Alligator, and Kurt James' Dueling Rodeo Bulls.

This year's entertainment features the crowd pleaser, John Anderson on Saturday night, as well as two up and coming country stars, Jamie Lynn Spears on Tuesday night and Frankie Ballard on Wednesday. Also, for those of interested in being the entertainer, there will be a Talent Contest on Sunday evening.

To satisfy the adventurous side, Deshler's Amusements will be providing carnival rides from Tuesday through Saturday. Be sure you bring your appetite, there will be food vendors selling everything from ice cream and funnel cakes to roast beef and noodles. There is sure to be something to satisfy everyone.

The Marshall County Fair delivers all of this fun for one low admission price, so when you are planning your summer fun, don't forget to put the Marshall County Fair on your calendar-July 20-26.
