Ann Koegler, coordinator of Altenheim Resource & Referral Services, sits in the interview room at Altenheim?Retirement Community, 1387 National Road, where her services are now based. A geriatric social worker with 37 years of experience, Koegler either meets personally with clients who are seeking information about aging and caregiving services and issues, or she helps them by phone or email. The operation formerly was housed in a center next to the community home on National Road but was razed to make way for new independent living cottages. Koegler said six freestanding cottages for men, women and couples have been added to the retirement community, and two additional cottages are under construction. The community home also houses six senior tenants. Altenheim?Resource &?Referral Services has served more than 22,000 clients since 1995.
Peg's Run, sponsored by the Elm Grove Eagle Riders No. 1891, will be a motorcycle ride that will leave the Eagles at noon Saturday, Aug. 23. Registration is from 11 a.m. to noon. Proceeds will go to the Altenheim team.
