Several volunteer fire departments responded to a house fire at 3:38 a.m. Sunday at 55288 Poplar St., Lansing.
No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries, according to a spokesman at the Wolfhurst VFD.
There was damage to one room and the basement of the house and smoke damage throughout the structure and water damage confined to one room and the basement area.
Firefighters noticed some suspicious items in the house and called the Belmont County Sheriff's Department.
Officials were notified of the name of the person who resided at the house, identified as Amber M. Schaffer, 31.
A spokesman at the sheriff's department said Schaffer was interviewed and following the interview was arrested and booked into the county jail on charges of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals and illegal manufacture of methamphetamines.
Bond was set at $25,000.
A representative from the Ohio Fire Marshal's Office was at the scene and has not yet released any findings.
Schaffer's arrest is part of the Ohio Fire Marshal's investigation as to the cause of the fire, according to a spokesman at the Wolfhurst VFD.
Responding to the scene were squads from Wolfhurst, Brookside, Barton, Colerain and Bridgeport.
