It's a recurring phrase everyone in the Ohio Valley has said or heard at some point:

"There's nothing to do."

That statement couldn't be further from the truth, as the Ohio Valley has dozens of fun activities to enjoy, no matter the time of year or which community one visits.

For outdoor adventurers, there is natural beauty everywhere, from the area's many parks, lakes and mountains to the mighty Ohio River right in the heart of everything. In the summer months, there is much to be seen and explored throughout the gorgeous hillsides and deep in the valleys in our region, and this list assuredly has something for everyone.

On those long summer days when a warm thunder shower makes outdoor activities more complicated, there are several indoor activities the valley has to offer. From family outings to more adult pursuits, there are many fun, quirky establishments that are sure to offer an interesting and informative afternoon or evening - without traveling far.

This supplement to The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register aims to list many of those things, though there are others that you, the reader, surely enjoy. We believe the list contained in these pages should give you a fresh idea or two for those days when it seems as if nothing is happening - or when you're looking for something different for the kids or grandkids. It is our hope that you use this guide to have a fun, eventful summer here in the Ohio Valley.
