Michael Alan Grow of 126 Sherrard Road, Wheeling, was arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing firearms, cash and jewelry from his grandparents' home.
Grow, 21, was charged with grand larceny and petit larceny. He is being held at West Virginia Northern Regional Jail on a $30,000 bond.
According to the criminal complaint filed by the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, Grow's grandparents reported the theft from their home on 145 Mount View Drive on April 26. The complaint states the two found several rings valued at about $20,000 in total were missing. They said Grow was the only person at the house that day and the night before and there was no forced entry into the home.
A home surveillance videotape revealed Grow looking around the living room for his grandmother's purse earlier that month. They stated the same night, $200 came up missing from the same purse.
Grow allegedly later admitted to his mother he had stolen and sold the jewelry at the Premium Gold Exchange at the Ohio Valley Mall. The store was able to give law enforcement copies of its transaction with Grow.
Grow's grandfather reported a few days later Grow had called him and also admitted to stealing two pistols and a rifle from both his grandfather and his father. When questioned by deputies, Grow said he was storing the rifle in a black guitar case at his girlfriend's house, where it was later recovered by law enforcement.
A pretrial conference for Grow will be held at 3:30 p.m. May 12.
