As a woman in West Virginia, I have taken offense to Natalie Tennant's campaign messaging. The "War on Women" is nothing more than propaganda. Shelley Moore Capito is not against women. In fact, she stands up for women on the issues that matter most.
If we do not stop President Obama from eliminating coal, West Virginians will suffer. If we do not repeal Obamacare, West Virginians will suffer. If we do not rein in out-of-control federal spending, West Virginians will suffer.
Truthfully, we are already suffering and Natalie Tennant is in agreement with the Obama administration on the issues that are making it hard for women in West Virginia to support and care for their families.
Shelley is already fighting back on these issues - issues that harm West Virginia families and West Virginia women. Any law that affects our jobs, our electricity bills, our taxes, or our patient/doctor relationships is a law that affects women.
Legislation does not always have to be about reproductive rights in order to be a "women's issue." I find that mindset insulting. Women care about ecomomic issues, too. We need a powerful voice like Shelley's in the United States Senate so we can get our economy back on the right track.
