Since the IRS often gets bashed, I want to give it a pat on the back. Its VITA tax program at the Ohio County Library is a major convenience for taxpayers. Granted, it saves the IRS much paperwork, but it also saves taxpayers much time and effort.
Of course, it wouldn't work without the local volunteers. I want to thank Polly Karr at the main desk, who gave me good advice; Joe, who did my returns; and Sarah, who reviewed them (no last names on their name tags.)
This is one more government program that works and it deserves to be mentioned.
