This is an open letter to our elected officials - state and federal:
All these years, and they are many, my spouse and I have labored to educate our children, and be productive members of society. We've been successful in both cases. Our children have received college educations, and they in turn are productive members of our society with a good work ethic.
That brings me to the point of this open letter - both political parties have stolen this opportunity from countless millions of our fellow countrymen. There is no longer an incentive to work, educate or save. Big government will provide everything you need - housing, food, cell phones, medical care, etc., and with no strings attached, except that you are unemployed and stay that way.
This large voting bloc (welfare receivers) now outnumber the working class (those who get up every morning and toil to realize the "American dream" while supporting the lazy non-working welfare receivers. Am I angry? You bet your life I am. Will it impact me in the future? Not for long, because of my age. However, I do have concern for my children and grandchildren. They will pay the price until the economy falls apart, and it will, as sure as God made green apples.
The politicians are catering to the large voting bloc noted above, they just want to get re-elected so they can continue to line their pockets and fatten their pensions. I wish this was the "exception" instead of the "norm" - but the continued growth of government proves that not to be the case. When will you the patriot who has remained silent for so long say, "Enough is enough"?
Will it take armed revolution to regain control of our country? Are there any true leaders out there (city, state and federal) that will quit wasting taxpayers' dollars and restore some sanity to the government of the people, by the people and for the people? The voting booth no longer is the answer - the workers are outnumbered, are there any among you that is willing to step forward and exercise some common sense before it's too late, if it's not already?
The editorials produced by this newspaper, and the news media in general, seem to have their heads buried in the sand. For they are not alarmed and are content in attacking political parties (taking sides) and not attacking and reporting on the true state of our great (and failing) nation - $17-$18 trillion in debt with no slowdown in sight.
Hope springs eternal!
