The recent headline on your February 14th article in The Intelligencer about our district's choices was inflammatory and not accurate. Our district is at a critical point and we will continue to be upfront with consequences of future decisions, but we do not threaten.
Our district must no longer ignore our serious financial needs. Money will run out for the Switzerland of Ohio Local School District in 2016 with the gap of a year to 16 months in collecting tax money after voters pass an issue. The time to get serious about a long range plan has come.
As a part of communicating, the draft plan was meant to begin the discussions and seek viable alternatives from our staff and our communities. However, we must become a more united district.
Benjamin Franklin commented at the signing of the Declaration of Independence, "We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately."
There is much work to do here and inviting controversy where there should be collaboration through tough times is not fair to our students.
