Ronald E. and Isolde M. Reith Helms of Glen Dale will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Monday, Nov. 4.
They met at the Oktoberfest held in Germany in 1962, while Ron Helms was stationed in Nellingen, Germany, with the U.S. Army, They were united in marriage Nov. 4, 1963.
The couple had a daughter, Maria, born in Stuttgart, West Germany. Months after the birth of the baby, the couple moved to the United States to reside in Moundsville. They had two more children.
Isolde Helms is a homemaker.
Ron Helms retired from the B&O Railroad in June 2003. He is a respected golfer and has won numerous awards and trophies. He was inducted into the Legends of Golf by the Ohio Valley Golf Association on Sept. 25.
They have three daughters. The family includes Maria D. Helms Montes-Clyde and her husband, Michael Clyde, of Glen Dale; Gina R. Helms Moran and her husband, William Moran, of Martins Ferry and Michele M. Helms Nardo of Shadyside. They have five grandchildren.
A family party will be held in their honor.
