Exactly 50 years ago today I was a freshman at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa., and had just joined a study group through the chaplain's office. Our goal was to understand local governmental structure and identify the sources of power in the community.
Our study group was brought to an abrupt halt - from outside the college - when we began to identify the real power brokers in the town.
How ironic that now, 50 years forward, I wonder, "Who is the real power behind the effort to rezone the west side of Washington Avenue?"
I ask the citizens of Wheeling to carefully monitor who gains financially from this recent R-4 vote.
