GISH, Velma Gerldeen, 97, of Moundsville, WV, formerly of Ft. Collins, CO, died Sunday, September 8, 2013, in Shadyside Care Center, Shadyside, OH.
She was born January 16, 1916, in Abilene, Kansas, to the late William Edward and Lilly Belle Owens Rose.
She was a member of the Retail Clerk's Union (Safeway Stores) and Volunteers of America. Velma was a Christian by Faith, having most recently attended Christ United Methodist Church in Wheeling. She loved reading the Bible daily until her health declined. She loved her family and worried and prayed daily for them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Leroy Gish; a son, Charles D. Gish; three brothers, Richard Rose, Robert Rose and Donald Fullerton; a sister, Winifred Rose.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara J. Geery (Richard) Colley of Moundsville, and their children, R. Sean Geery and girlfriend, Tracy Mosca, his son, Justin Geery, and step-children, Josh Wanat, Brianna Wanat, all of Ohio, and Kristen (Bob) George and their children, Callie and Brayden of North Carolina; Kelly Ann (Timothy) Allen and their children, T.J., Zachary, Sarah and Rachael Allen of Morgantown, WV; Anjanette (Marc) Tellier and their daughter, Rebecca Tellier of Charles Town, WV; Teresa Colley; Julia (CJ) Taggart and their children, Patrick and Christopher McIntyre of South Carolina. Also surviving are Velma's son's children, Michael Gish and his children, Victoria, Breanna and Jonathan Gish of Colorado; Debbi (Matt) Blatchley of Colorado; Brian (Danielle) Gish of Virginia; Matthew Gish of Texas; Jason (Amanda) Gish of California; a daughter-in-law, Judy Gish of Colorado; sister- and brother-in-law, Alberta and Loren Noel of Kansas; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2013, with the Rev. Dr. Timothy J. Allen officiating.
