The Ohio Valley Athletic Conference just got a little bigger.

If being the largest high school athletic conference in the nation isn't big enough, the OVAC reached an agreement Wednesday during the conference's annual Media Night at WesBanco Arena that will expand its reach to a worldwide level.

The OVAC and PlayOn! Sports reached a five-year agreement to produce and distribute its 50 member schools sporting events.

PlayOn will stream all boys and girls championship games as well as other conference activities in a variety of live and on-demand formats available within the newly launched NFHS Network site.

Additionally, schools participating in the School Broadcast Program will be able to broadcast regular-season sporting events that their respective school using PlayOn's proprietary technology platform.

"This is quite an adventure for the OVAC to undertake," conference Executive Secretary/Treasurer Thomas E. Rataiczak said. While we have always relied on the traditional media outlets for coverage, we also realize that the market is changing. Social networking and the 'second screen' are becoming more entrenched with the younger audiences. To stream every OVAC event in itself is a huge undertaking, but it gives every student/athlete in every sport equal footing, equal exposure and we think that's important."

PlayOn was excited for the opportunity to work with the OVAC.

"The OVAC is one of the most respected conferences in the country," PlayOn! Sports CEO David Rudolph said in a statement released to those in attendance.

"Now fans and family members can share in this tradition no matter where they are, We are helping the OVAC build a library of content that will allow students, families and communities access to their school's sports and activities programs in a way they haven't had before."

"To have the opportunity to be viewed worldwide by friends and family is priceless," Rataiczak said.

"We look forward to the challenges this new adventure will bring to give our schools and participants a first-class experience."
