In order to enforce the vicious dog ordinance as we know it, the city of Wheeling needs to enter into a contract with the Ohio County Animal Control department for animal control service.
Our local police department should not have to to do dog sitting. They have enough to do protecting the good citizens of Wheeling who abide by the laws.
Our mayor believes you should call the police when an animal is our of control. (That is not their job.) The dog warden and his staff can best serve this purpose.
The city of Wheeling needs to enter into a contract with the the Ohio County Animal Control Department for that service. It's the right thing to do if the price is right.
