WEIRTON - Oak Glen beat rival Weir High 11-1 in five innings Wednesday at Bowman Field. The squads will be back at it on the same dirt at 4 p.m. today.
Both games this year were not played due to the weather.
The 12-9 Bears came into the Region 1, Section 1 tournament 11-9 and on a three-game winning streak.
The Bears scored six in the first inning for it's lead-foot start.
Matt McLaughlin reached on an error on a full-count pitch and Zach Porter followed with a single. Bub Haddox and Trey Smith were walked for a run and Alex Wedgwood followed with a two-run base knock.
Tyler Steed was hit by a pitch, Alec Swiger reached on a fielder's choice and Nathan Wright's walk scored another run. Kyle Woodruff then reached on another fielder's choice to score the final run.
Oak Glen plated three in the second.
Porter walked and Haddox followed with a two-run blast. Smith doubled and Wedgwood's single brought him home.
Porter singled to begin the fifth and eventually scored on another fielder's choice.
Haddox fanned two and walked five. He allowed his first hit, a sharp single to left by Kamari Washington, in the bottom of the fourth.
