An unidentified woman is recovering today from significant injuries she claims she received at the hands of a "large group of people" armed with rocks, bricks and brass knuckles at about 10 p.m. Tuesday in East Wheeling.
Two Wheeling Police officers, a supervisor and a detective responded to Ohio Valley Medical Center's emergency room after being called there at 10:15 p.m. regarding an assault victim.
At the hospital, the woman told officers that she had been at an East Wheeling address but left after getting into an argument.
According to the police report, the woman said she was followed by a group of people from that location to an area on 13th Street where she claims several females "jumped" her and beat her with the rocks, bricks and brass knuckles.
The woman suffered undisclosed "trauma" injuries, the report states.
Officers went to 13th Street where they believe they located the possible site of the alleged attack. Detectives are continuing their investigation. The condition of the woman was not made available.
