April 27, 2013

After four generations of selling cars in the local area, Thomas-Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram celebrated its grand opening Friday of its new facility located near the Ohio Valley Mall in St. Clairsville.

Formerly the Roomful Express Furniture building, Thomas Chrysler bought the facility in 2011, opening its doors to the public in November on Black Friday. Most recently, the dealership was located at 252 E. Main St. along National Road leading into downtown St. Clairsville. In business since 1917, Thomas Chrysler was originally located on Market Street in downtown Wheeling, now home to Jeff's Auto Shop.

Co-owner Brian Thomas boasts several new features of the new location, including a spacious showroom with the ability to house 50 cars, along with several offices. He also noted the new body shop in the back of the building now has a drive-through where customers can quickly receive service on their vehicles.

Thomas said M&G Architects & Engineers designed the renovation of the building, which took about a year to complete. Furniture for the offices was provided by Kelly's Suite II Ltd. in St. Clairsville, while the dealership's new computers came from the Technology Services Group in Wheeling.

"It's really exciting because its our fourth generation," co-owner Robert Thomas said. "It's really important we carry this tradition on, and I think we got the best opportunity of all out here as far as traffic and people coming in. It's just super."

Ohio Valley Mall manager George Diab said he is happy to see Thomas Chrysler has brought plenty of traffic to the mall since its opening in the fall.

"Thomas Chrysler is a great neighbor for us," Diab said. "We are very happy to see them here next to us. Things are coming together more than ever."
