Other competing schools included Shady Spring, Pikeview, Pocahontas County, Webster County, Capital, Sissonville, Lincoln County, Princeton, Westside, Van, Scott, Independence, Ritchie County and Moorefield high schools.
In addition to winning the competition, each WPHS team member earned a full-tuition scholarship for eight semesters to Concord University, where the competition was held.
The students competed in a variety of subjects including physical geography, current events, human geography and maps and were asked questions based on these subjects. The team with the most right answers wins the bowl.
"The kids worked exceptionally hard," WPHS teacher Jacob Galick said. "They deserve to be recognized for their achievement. It was a tremendous competition."
The state High School Geography Bowl is sponsored by the West Virginia Geographic Alliance.
