STEUBENVILLE -- A high school student testifying this morning in the Steubenville rape trial said he witnessed sexual activity between one of the defendants and the alleged victim, first in the backseat of a car and then at a house.
The question at hand is whether the alleged victim consented to the sexual advances.
The student, who was granted immunity this morning from Judge Thomas Lipps, said he was sitting in the backseat of a car with one defendant and the victim between them. He said he took a photo of the defendant sexually touching the 16-year-old victim.
The witness also testified that at a house later on Aug. 12, he witnessed the same defendant initiate further sexual activity with the alleged victim. He testified the victim did not respond and that the defendant stopped his sexual advances.
Court currently is in recess.
