The artistic talent nurtured in Ohio County Schools will be on display today at the annual Celebration of the Arts.
Ohio County Schools will host the event at 4:30 p.m. today at the J.B. Chambers Performing Arts Center on the campus of Wheeling Park High School, and community members are invited to attend the event at no cost. Ohio County Schools Superintendent Dianna Vargo said the arts are an important part of the curriculum at each grade level.
"Celebration of the Arts is an opportunity for students of Ohio County Schools to showcase their amazing talents in the fine and performing arts," she said. "It's also a way of letting the students know that their artistic skills are valued, and we hope to inspire them to be innovative and dream."
Wheeling Park High School strings performers will take the stage today at the Ohio County Schools Celebration of the Arts. The public is invited to attend the event that begins at 4:30 p.m. today.
This year's lineup involves vocal and instrumental groups including the Ohio County Schools Elementary Honors Ensemble, Ohio County Middle School Honors Choir, Ohio County Schools Select Strings Ensemble, Triadelphia Middle School Jazz and Wheeling Park High School choirs.
Selected students from the elementary and middle schools and Wheeling Park High School also will display artwork. Some students will conduct art demonstrations during the event.
