I realize this letter of thanks is terribly late, but I always say better late than not at all. Please allow me to start at the beginning. A notice appeared in the News-Register in early November 2012 stating the Veterans Organization was looking for Vietnam veterans to attend the 30th anniversary of the Vietnam Wall in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 11. The notice stated another organization was sponsoring and paying for the bus to take veterans of Vietnam. The organization was Wheeling Park Dancers.
I am a veteran of the Korean Era. I always wanted to visit the wall, so I called the veterans and talked to a Sara De Long, stating I was a veteran of Korea and would it be possible for me to go to Washington, D.C., to experience such an event. Ms. De Long said she would ask someone, (I think that was John Looney), so she called back and said I can make the trip.
I must tell you, if you or anyone has never been to the wall, you should go. It was an experience I shall never forget. So please allow me to thank the Wheeling Park Dancers from the bottom of my heart, and I am sure I speak for the other veterans who were on that bus. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
