WHEELING -- Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack President and General Manager Jim Simms today accepted an opportunity to open a new casino in Lebanon, Ohio. He will formally start his new position in April

Delaware North Companies, owner of Wheeling Island, made the announcement. Delaware North is partnering with Churchill Downs Inc. on the new Ohio venture, formerly known as the Lebanon Raceway.

Simms came to Wheeling Island in 2006 and helped lead the company to record revenues and profits and also was integral to the implementation of table gambling. He was appointed as president and general manager in 2008 and helped Wheeling Island prepare for long-term economic stability during years of increased competition from neighboring states.

Delaware North said it will be conducting a nationwide search to replace Simms at Wheeling Island.
