BURKLE, Gazella T. (Czap), 87, of Shadyside, OH, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, died Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV.

She was born November 22, 1925, in Logan County, WV a daughter of the late Peter and Theresa (Santavec) Czap.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Shadyside, OH, Wardah Hussim Temple #53 Daughters of the Nile, Ohio State Ladies Auxiliary, a charter member of the Martins Ferry Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Burkle, Sr.; a brother, William Czap; a sister, Margaret Slotwinski; a granddaughter, Jamie Maguire Donovan; and a grandson, Bradley Frohnapfel.

Surviving are a son, John T. (Pat) Burkle, Jr., of Shadyside, OH; three daughters, Mary E.(Jim) Maguire of Wheeling, WV, JoAnn Frohnapfel of Allison Park, PA and Cheryl (Jack) Schellenberg of Shadyside, OH; a brother, Julius Czap; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received Saturday, February 2, 2013, from 10 a.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. with Rev. Karen Torrez officiating at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, OH.

Contributions may be made to the Liberty Fire Station in memory of John, a past captain, and Gazella a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Or you may give to the charity of the donors choice.
