Suspect in Marshall County Break-ins Arrested

January 24, 2013
By J.W. JOHNSON JR. - Marshall County Bureau Chief , The Intelligencer / Wheeling News-Register

A Moundsville man charged as the culprit in several Marshall County break-ins was arrested in Belmont County Tuesday evening.

John Duley, 26, of Middle Grave Creek Road, was arrested by the Bellaire Police Department after authorities learned he had been released from treatment at Belmont Community Hospital. According to officials with the department, Duley had been receiving treatment at the hospital for an unspecified condition since the Marshall County charges were announced last week.

Duley had been named as one of the culprits in a series of at least 15 break-ins near Maxwell Acres and Beeler Station in Marshall County, beginning Thanksgiving weekend. Marshall County Sheriff Kevin Cecil said two groups had been identified, and investigators believe Duley has been involved with both of those groups. He faces a felony burglary charge for his involvement in at least one of the break-ins, though no official details of that incident were provided.

After being arrested by Bellaire police and transported to the Belmont County Jail, authorities discovered Duley has three additional warrants in Belmont County stemming from failure to appear and theft charges. He was expected to be extradited to Marshall County later this week to answer the felony charge there, though no official time frame was given.
