WHEELING - The Wheeling Jesuit women's basketball team used the final minutes of Saturday's game to defeat the Fighting Scots of Ohio Valley University, 66-64, at the Alma Grace McDonough Center.
The Cardinals (5-7, 2-6 WVIAC) were led by Jamie Sobczak's 22 points and 9-for-16 (56 percent) effort from the field which included a 2-for-3 performance from downtown (67 percent). Taneka Lewis and Breanna Butler followed with double digits. Lewis recorded 11 points on 3 of 6 (50 percent) while Butler notched 10 points on a 4-for-4 effort from the free throw line.
Lewis came through for the Cardinals with an old fashion 3-point play, giving the Cardinals a 65-64 advantage. With 20 seconds on the clock, Pacholke knocked down a free throw, lifting the Cardinals to the victory.

BETHANY - Bethany stayed right with Washington & Jefferson, but could not overcome 32 percent shooting and suffered a defeat to the Presidents.
W&J extended their lead out to eight points in the second half, but a three-pointer by junior Skylar Williams and lay-up by freshman Brianna Nuzum brought BC right back within three at 41-38 with 12 minutes left. Bethany would never get closer than that the rest of the game however, as Apke scored two straight buckets and a three by Alexa DelGreco took the visitors' lead to 48-38. The margin grew to as much as 12 before the Bison scored the final four points to make the closing margin eight points.
For the Bison, senior Kayla Taormina notched her fourth double-double of the year with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Taylor Verrico also scored double digits for the seventh straight game with 12. Miami 85, OUE 65
MIDDLETOWN - All conference forward Brianne Thornton led the Thunderhawks past visiting Ohio University Eastern.
Thornton finished with 28 points and six rebounds as Miami University used a strong second half finish to put away Ohio University Eastern late.
The Thunderhawks led 37-27 at the half and the Panthers immediately cut the lead to 37-33 to start the second half behind back to back three pointers by Monroe Central's Alex Kuhn. Unfortunately, the Panthers would get no closer the rest of the way.
Kuhn led OUE with 19 points and three assists. Beallsville's Julie Bilyeu had a strong showing with 15 points and six rebounds. Shadyside's Sarah Neavin added 10 points and a game high of nine rebounds. OUE falls to 13-4 and 8-1 in the ORCC with the loss.

WHEELING - The Wheeling Jesuit men's basketball team had an outstanding performance Saturday at the Alma Grace McDonough Center defeating Ohio Valley University.
Every Cardinal touched the scoring column, and six players finished with double digits. Joe Prati led the Cardinals with 18 points. Recardo Gaddy followed with 14 points, and Justin Fritts poured in 12 points. Justin Andes, Darin Harris and Eric Siefert each tallied 11 points.

BETHANY - Bethany College men's basketball team followed up its worst shooting performance of the season Monday night with by far its best, as the Bison hit 59 percent.
Leslie Addy put up 33 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. He was 7-for-9 from the arc, the best shooting percentage (77.8) from deep since Brody Jackson had the same line on Jan. 24, 2007.

Three other Bison notched double figures, led by James Barton with 20, while Nick Wilcox totaled 15 points to go along with nine rebounds and six steals and Reece Mabery tallied all 11 of his points in the big first half.
For W&J, brothers Nate (23 points) and Zach (22) Bellhy were the top scorers, while Ben Cecchini hit for 11.
