Faith in Action Caregivers has a variety of items for sale that can help last-minute holiday shoppers find unique and much-appreciated gifts.
A 513-piece jigsaw puzzle of the Ohio Valley is available. The entire purchase price is profit for the organization.
The puzzle is a collage of locations including the Madonna of the Trail statue, Grave Creek Mound, Centre Market, Monument Place, the Belmont County courthouse, the former West Virginia Penitentiary, Capitol Theatre, West Virginia Independence Hall and the B&O Building among other locations. Faith in Action Caregivers offers area shoppers some one-of-a-kind gift possibilities for the holiday season, including a jigsaw puzzle, above, featuring landmarks of the Wheeling area and a special cookbook, “Feed Your Faith,” with more than 500 recipes collected by Faith in Action programs throughout West Virginia.
"The puzzle is definitely a gift that you can't find anywhere else and is a perfect gift for people who grew up in the Ohio Valley," said Jeanette Wojcik, executive director.
Faith in Action Caregivers also offers area shoppers a cookbook with more than 500 recipes collected by Faith in Action programs throughout West Virginia. "Feed Your Faith' features meal prayers from diverse faith traditions on the divider tabs. Recipes in the book include Caramelized Apple French Toast, Reuben Casserole, Dutch Plum Cake, Walnut Raisin Pie and Four Layer-Dessert.
Wojcik said, "These would be great additions to anyone's holiday menu." She noted that the total sale of the cookbook is all profit for Faith in Action.
In addition, Faith in Action Caregivers offers a wide variety of gift cards for Riesbeck's grocery stores, Target and Wal-Mart as well as many area restaurants such as Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Generations, Panera Bread, Cracker Barrel, Bob Evans, Eat 'n Park and many of the fast food chains. Faith in Action earns between 5 percent and 15 percent on the sale of the gift cards.
Special orders for gift cards will be placed on Monday, Dec. 10, and Monday, Dec. 17. The last day to order gift cards and guarantee delivery before Christmas will be Dec. 17. Special orders must be prepaid and received by the Faith in Action Caregivers office no later than 8:30 a.m. on the day the order is to be placed.
The organization is selling the Enjoy Coupon Book for both the Wheeling area and the Pittsburgh area. Both books are filled with hundreds of buy-one, get-one-free offers and other discounts for restaurants, entertainment and services.
For the person who has everything, individuals are encouraged to make a tax-deductible donation to Faith in Action Caregivers in honor of the individual. Donations can be sent to the organization at 1359 National Road, Wheeling, WV 26003.
The Faith in Action Caregivers office is located at 1359 National Road, Wheeling, on the second floor of the Altenheim Resource and Referral Center. The office is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The last day to stop to do holiday shopping is Friday, Dec. 21. Faith in Action Caregivers will re-open Wednesday, Dec. 26. All funds raised support the independent living of older adults and people with disabilities in Ohio and Marshall counties in West Virginia and Belmont County in Ohio. Typical services provided by Faith in Action Caregivers include escorted transportation to medical appointments, shopping, errands, chores, respite for family caregivers, telephone reassurance and friendly visiting.
The organization does not charge for services regardless of the income level of the care receiver. Faith in Action Caregivers volunteers serve more than 1,825 people and provide more than 17,000 hours of free services to the community each year.
