Michael A. "Eck" and Alberta M. Grandstaff of Skaneateles, N.Y., formerly of Wheeling, observed their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, July 7.
They were united in marriage July 7, 1962 at Stone Presbyterian Church, Wheeling, with the Rev. O.L. Gilmore performing the double-ring ceremony.
Alberta Grandstaff is the daughter of the late Rita and Albert Shafer of Wheeling. She is a 1960 graduate of Triadelphia High School. She was loan officer at First State Bank in Webster City, Iowa, and office manager at the former Longwell Chevrolet dealership in Amsterdam, N.Y.
Grandstaff is the son of the late Dan and Eileen Grandstaff of Wheeling. He is a 1959 graduate of Triadelphia High School. He attended West Liberty State College until starting in the printing and publishing business, a career that spanned 40 years.
In the late 1970s, his work took them to Webster City, Iowa. In 1989, they relocated to New York. They moved to Skaneateles in 1999 and both have since retired.
They are the parents of three children, Susan M. Grandstaff of Naples, Fla.; Scott M. of Drums, Pa., and Steven M. of Rotterdam Junction, N.Y. They have two grandsons, two granddaughters, a step-grandson and a great-grandson.
They celebrated this milestone July 20-22 at the home of nephew Jon D. Grandstaff and his wife, Dawn, in Highland Heights, Ohio. A surprise 50th wedding anniversary weekend celebration was arranged by their three children.
