Mel and Marlene Montes of Benwood are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary today, June 17.
They were united in marriage June 17, 1972 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Mount Olivet.
Marlene Montes is the daughter of John and Mary Bradcovich of Mount Olivet. She is a retired employee of Marshall County Schools, where she worked as an elementary school teacher for over 40 years.
Montes is the son of the late Manuel and Alice Montes of Moundsville. He is a retired employee of PPG Industries, Natrium, where he also served as International Chemical Workers Union Local 45 president for 25 years.
They have two children. The family includes Matt and his wife, Tiffiny, of Columbus and Erika Montes Brown and her husband, Ian, of Los Angeles. They have twin grandchildren.
The couple celebrated this milestone anniversary with a trip to Cancun, Mexico.
