BASEBALL: Bishop Donahue 8 Wheeling Central 7

GLEN DALE - Bishop Donahue eliminated defending Class A state champion Wheeling Central in part by scoring four runs in the second, then holding off a seventh-inning rally.

Phillip Smith, and Wylie Koontz each had three hits while Kyle Gillis and Austin Ghaphery each had two for the Bishops, who play Madonna at 5 today as the tourney continues. Should the Bishops win, the two teams will play for the title at noon Saturday.

Anthony Tighe had three singles, while Mic Keys, Derek Yocke, and Andrew Keane each had two for the Maroon Knights, who scored three in the seventh, but couldn't get the equalizer.
