Norman and Helen Mc-Diffitt of Rayland celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Tuesday, Jan. 3.
They were united in marriage Jan. 3, 1952 in Canton, Ohio.
Helen McDiffitt is the daughter of the late Conley and Lola Parlier of Elizabethton, Tenn. She is a retired homemaker, baker and home canning guru. She has a published cookbook of her most treasured recipes; she placed second in the Herald-Star recipe contest this past year.
McDiffitt is the son of the late Forrest and Lillian McDiffitt of Pine Grove. He is a veteran of the Army during the Korean War and is retired from Ohio Valley Gas Co. after 30 years of service. He gives advice and stories each year when the "boys" come home to hunt.
Over the years, they have enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting and gardening. Both are avid readers and belong to the Brilliant Library, where she attends the weekly book club.
They are the parents of six children: Dinah Keyser of Bloomingdale; Jodette Gallagher of Marion, Ill.; Brenda Burwell of Canton; Jeff of Akron; Chris of Rayland and Kevin of Columbus. They have nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
