Dr. Emily Frances Rine and Dr. Kevin Raymond Boyce Butler were united in marriage Saturday, July 2, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, Wheeling, with the Revs. Ronald Anton, S.J.,and James O'Brien, S.J., officiating the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Gary and Sue Ellen Miller of Bridgeport.
The groom is the son of Dr. Leon and Shamyune Slonim of Ajax, Ontario, and the late Dennis Butler.
Stacy Connell was maid of honor. Dr. Patrick McDaniel served as best man.
Other attendants were Veena Chokkavelu; Laura Cordery; Dr. Maureen Matarese; Shayna Slonim, sister of the groom; Chris Edwards; Dr. Will Enck; Warren Flood; George Pfaff; Duncan Ganpaul; Alina Muroski; Zosha Muroski and Arianna Muroski.
A reception was held at the banquet view ballrooms, Wilson Lodge, Oglebay Park, Wheeling.
The bride is a 1997 graduate of Linsly School, a 2001 graduate of Boston College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in linguistics and German studies, a 2004 graduate of Teachers College, Columbia University, with a Master of Arts degree in applied linguistics and a 2009 graduate of Penn State University with a doctorate in applied linguistics. She is employed as an instructor in the American English Institute and Department of Linguistics at the University of Oregon.
The groom is a 1995 graduate of Ajax High School, a 1999 graduate of Queens University in Kingston, Ontario, with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, a 2003 graduate of Columbia University with a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering and a 2010 graduate of Penn State University with a doctorate in computer science and engineering. He is employed as an assistant professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Oregon.
After a wedding trip to Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii, the couple resides in Eugene, Ore.
