Emilia M. and Ronald P. Recchio of Follansbee celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Friday, Oct. 21.
They were united in marriage Oct. 21, 1961 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Follansbee, with the late Rev. John Allison officiating. Sylvia Ferrelli Wendt and Charles Kendlick served as maid of honor and best man.
Emilia Recchio is the daughter of the late Marco and Elizabeth Martino. She graduated from Follansbee High School and worked as a secretary for RCA Service Co. and Michael G. DiDomenico, CPA. She is a member of Theta Chi Alpha sorority, Sisters of Garibaldi, Democratic Women and Blessed Mother Sodality.
Recchio is the son of the late Pio and Antonetta Recchio Gagliani of Avella, Pa. He graduated from Avella High School, served in the Army and retired from the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He is a former fire chief of the Follansbee Volunteer Fire Department, charter grand knight of the Knights of Columbus and a fourth-degree knight. He is a member of several fraternal and civic organizations and was honored as Follanbee's man of the year in 2003. He also was awarded knight of the year for the state of West Virginia.
They are active members of St. Anthony's Catholic Church where they have served in various offices throughout the years.
They are the parents of a son. The family includes Ronnie and his wife, Amanda, of Wheeling. They have a grandson.
A Mass of Thanksgiving will be held at St. Anthony's Church today, Oct. 23, with a dinner this afternoon at St. Francis Centre, Follansbee.
