Mateys Celebrate 50th

Eugene and Anna Mae Matey of Weirton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Friday, Sept. 16.

They were united in marriage Sept. 16, 1961 at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Weirton, by the Rev. Stephen P. Natsis.

Anna Mae Matey is the daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Arch of Pittsburgh. She is retired from Hancock County Schools where she was a teacher's aide and kindergarten assistant at Liberty and Broadview Elementary schools.

Matey is the son of the late Emery and Emma Matey of Weirton. He is an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He retired after 40 years with the former Weirton Steel Corp., where he worked in the machine and blacksmith shops.

They are members of Grace Lutheran Church, Steubenville.

They have two children, Eric Matey of Meadville, Pa., and Renee Matey Stokes of Fort Mill, S.C. They have a granddaughter and three grandsons.

They are planning to celebrate their anniversary on board a European river cruise.
