First I would like to give the public a few facts about this so called "emergency levy."
The State of Ohio is not closing or forcing consolidation of Bellaire Local Schools. According to the district's state auditor report and other state info, Bellaire School District's budget is now balanced. The district only owes back money on a state loan. They have already paid a portion of that back.
The May 3 levy is for "operational expenses." That means the money can go to anything, including salary raises or to pay for an assistant superintendent that the district does not need. Enrollment is way too low.
So, please, someone tell me why a levy that will hurt so many struggling taxpayers in Bellaire is so viciously and desperately being sought? So desperate that the district goes to senior citizen living complexes and hands out candy and badges for votes?
The tactics and propaganda this district is using to pass this levy are nothing less than shameful.
