WEST LIBERTY - What was feared to be a torn ACL that would have ended West Liberty linebacker Clay Beeler's career is actually less serious, an MRI revealed Monday. Beeler, a former Division-II Linebacker of the Year, actually suffered a strained MCL during the Hilltoppers' 47-21 rout of Glenville on Saturday.
''Best news ever,'' WLU coach Roger Waialae said. ''I got a call today at 1:27 and it's just a severely sprained MCL.
''He'll miss this week and be back the following week."
The injury is the same as the one suffered a few weeks ago by Hilltoppers receiver Jermaine Carter, who missed the following game.
