ButBushWhineFactory, are you still buying that cheap coal-fired electricity? Still buying that cheap gas-fired home heating? YOU’RE the one PAYING them all that money to continue mining and drilling. Walk the talk. Buy some solar cells, buy some windmills, get off the grid, and prove the alternative you greenies babble about is viable. Otherwise you’re just hypocrites.

atoddh, I'm suggesting that you research (google/Bing) Coal Fired generation and you will find the countries that are continuing with coal fired plants. CO2 is plant food!

The coal issue is much like cigarettes. People did not know the damage in prior times. Now they do. Many have stopped to protect their health. The Earth is becoming ill from coal burning. We know it is causing damage. It is time to move on to cleaner alternatives.

dying it is not what I think. There is reason now-science- for the opposition to coal burning.

Unfortunately, this generalized squeal of too-late and long-overdue alarm is bereft of genuine details. What standards, exactly, are the Coal-fired power plants to meet? If they have to do with Carbon Dioxide, then, the technologies exist, and are being initiated and practiced in other parts of the world, to capture CO2, even from the environment itself, and to consume CO2 in the synthesis of fuel alcohol Methanol, plastics manufacturing raw materials, and substitute natural gas Methane. If the Coal Ash is a problem, it can serve, and is in China serving, as an ore of Aluminum and other metals. The residue from metal extraction is consumed in the making of cement and concrete. Nothing is left. We simply are not being fully informed.
