whgfeeling are you stupid? I am a retired disabled vet of 21 years I served so you can make dumb remarks like that. All children need protected. What your statement does is make me worry about you? Take your foot out of your mouth before you speak.

Again, if she attempted to encourage a minor girl to file false allegations and posed as another young girl to get information for the purpose of revenge, it seems that she would be charged with something else. I do not know all the terms of laws, but there is certainly attempt to conspire. I hope this is resolved soon because this is not a good situation for the youth that reside there.

My hope is that misdemeanors are handled in a different way in the future. The State and the Defendant will have their day in court. Hopefully the next citizen suspected of misdemeanors, will not have their life turned upside down by law enforcement and the media, not spend a night in jail, lose their current job and live in fear of the next knock on the door because we live in Ohio County.

awavey-paper doesnt say that but I will take your word that you have inside info. Maybe it was not Crofts order. I do know that the job does not always get done when expected.

Awakened from sleep, dragged to NRJ, strip searched and sprayed with disinfectant and thrown into a cell overnight to wait for video arraignment at 10 am the next day. Croft is a good Deputy that exercised very poor judgment at best.

whgfeeling-read the article again in its entirety. It says Croft has on line messages and alleges she is posing as Molly. There is nothing concrete here but allegations, and I know nothing other than the article. If she in fact attempted to get his girl to make false report, wouldnt they be charging her attempting to conspire or something more than contributing to minors? Sorry, I gotta wait for more information before expecting to see the noose.

Are you all forgetting see is innocent till proven guilty not the other way around. Everyone is spitting out so called facts with nothing to back them up. I can show you facts that I walked on the moon but I didn't. This is what the courts are for. But, since when have misdemeanors been such big news when murders and thugs don't get this much media attention. I could think of better things to be spending my cities money on.

It does not matter what time she was arrested -she will go in front of magistrate in the morning if its mid of night. Evidently you all know something that is not in the paper. All I know is good about Croft, and nothing about board member. I just dont think this is all about providing cigarettes. While thats wrong and reason for termination, they often get them from their parents as well. Conversation with girl is allegation, not proven. Paper says Croft has FB record-now thats something concrete.

Thank you, acousticportal and justmytake! Someone else who makes sense and actually did some fact checking themselves. Well done and well said! Everyone else here has it in for the News Register and Officer Croft apparently. So we will toss facts out the window in place of personal opinion. Clearly, this woman is in need of some serious help if these alleged events took place. Notice I said "alleged". I don't want to offend anyone.

She committed unethical and unprofessional acts. ...and to potentially subject a person to a false accusation of sexual advances should be a serious felony..

"She was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond." So awavery: are you saying the paper is wrong?? According to the article she was released on personal recognizance which tells me two things 1. it was not in the middle of the night and 2. she did not go to the NRJ. Croft on the board of directors??? I checked Crittenon's website and annual reports. His name NEVER appeared on either? Where did yo get your FACTS?? I don't know if Ms. Ripley is guilty or not, but if she is I would like to know her motives. The girls who are in this facility are at-risk youths, and someone who encourages them to break the rules, and more importantly, helps them to leave the safety of the facility for who knows what by helping runaways is a CRIMINAL. We shall see. Your "facts" simply don't hold up.

Triton, I think the key word is "allegations". Just as someone is making allegations against her, she may or may not have tried to get the girl to make allegations. You say she could have ruined this males life, just as I these girls could ruin hers. I dont like or dislike her-dont know her. There is just not enough information here. As far as Croft-I have always believed him to be a good cop. If, and I emphasis the work if-the allegations that she attempted to get a girl to file false allegations are not true, then this is more of a case of poor ethical decision making and boundary issues. Just dont be naive about if these teens also lie.

HercX007 you ask if we read the article. The media only feeds you enough to keep things stirred up. And according to you she is already guilty so my question is we're are you getting your facts because we know everything in print before finding someone innocent or guilty is always factual. If you believe that you have bigger problems. If Deputy Croft wasn't a board member if Crittenton this wouldn't even had been in the news or paper. Is there something you know that the rest of us don't? If so share!

the allegations also allege that she conspired with a female staying there to make a false sexual allegation against a male administrator. While all of the posters are being sympathetic to her, I can only imagine what the plot against her boss would have done to his reputation, family and future. Like her all you want and worry about the poor girl all you want but imagine what she was trying to do to a male boss. People making false allegations like that have ruined people's lives and sent them to jail and cost them everything they have to fight the false allegation. But you like her and don't like the police who caught her? You worried about her being subjected to booking at the NRJ but not about how she was trying to ruin a co-workers life, family and future with a false claim of rape? thats some messed up logic dude.

Blooomin, you're most likely right, she needs some help. Bad decisions without any intent to harm anyone. Could of & should of been handled privately in a Magistrates office. Crittenton and Deputy Croft went out of there way to make a public example and spectacle to basically a kind, compassionate and giving mother, daughter, sister and active community member.

Was she terminated for providing tobacco? then had contact with girls after? then reported to LE and investigated for this? Can only make this assumption from article.

If in fact she pretended to be "Molly" on a fb page and has this revenge agenda, she needs mental health court but this may be the course of action to get to that. I dont understand why the need to drag through media though. Like the guy with gold paint around his mouth. Media insensative to suffering of mental illness. Often injured people go into this line of work. If this is the case, she needs help, not drug out of bed and posted all over the paper. She is not the only one doing such things in this type of job, but will be made an example of.

If the warrant was signed in the morning and waited to serve til am hours, that sound cruel to me. What kind of people do we expect to take these jobs for min. wage or just above? People can take a job at wal-mart or this, with hurt teens often lashing out at each other as well as staff, breaking up fights, seeing the pain and anger and so much more. The person that will chose this job may really want to help, but pay is poor and education requirements low. There seems to be something missing here. Are we really going to spend all this money prosecuting a woman who gave teens tobacco, when most of those girls have been abused and their abusers never prosecuted? I dont condone this behavior-just think a police investigation is over the top. Now, what happened after that. If she did in fact attempt to get a girl to make false acquisations, assist in a missing teen, and other things-that is a different story. Not that many years ago these kids were allowed to smoke at these places.

OH Herc, you believe everything written in the Intelligencer? A young, green reporter gets hand fed what to print. A warrant instead of a summons was given in the morning and held until 12:30 am? Deputy Croft sits on Crittenton's Board. Pregnant, alcohol & drug using, 14,15 & 16 yr. old girls never would slant the truth...would they? Ms. Ripley will be found innocent, but the damage has been done.

Did either of you actually READ the article or did you come to the comment section immediately before checking your facts? If so, that's par for the course on here. First of all -awavey- they are exposing a pattern of criminal history when they check into someone's background. Second, he didn't strong arm a warrant, it was issued and executed as soon as a judge was able to sign it. Her behavior, if proven guilty, is unethical and disgusting, not Mr. Croft's. DCHOWW - If you also had bothered to read the article, it explains that when Ms. Ripley quit the facility she maintained contact with the residents there after being told NOT to. She was also told not to come back to the facility prior to these incidents taking place but did so anyway. She also took the girls on daytrips out of the facility where she then provided them with tobacco products. And WHY does it matter if Mr. Ripley smokes? And where are your FACTS concerning non-smokers not buying for those who smoke? I call bullcrap!

Why is Ms Ripley being slandered with these allegation after she had quit long before these allegations came up. Are the local police looking into Crittenton to see if maybe the are trying to hide something worse. Just this being in the news is odd when there are harden criminal that don't make the news. Does Mr Ripley smoke? Because most smokers know that non smokers won't buy tobacco for smokers because they don't want to contribute to them harming themselves with smoke. I am an ex smoker myself and I know I would never supply anyone with tobacco. Just don't get it. This story is just not adding up. I would be looking into Crittenton myself. Just saying.
