My American Pit Bull Terrier is 11 years old. She has never bitten anyone. She has been kind and gentle to my 6 children as they've grown and has welcomed my 5 grandchildren into our home.

I have an APBT because of their loving nature, especially toward children. I am not a street thug nor do I aspire to be one. I do not deal drugs. I would never dream of being involved in dog fighting.

Any breed of dog can be raised to be vicious. The APBT is not more likely to be human aggressive than other breeds. Any aggression by an APBT is more likely to be reported in the media, though.

(BTW, my last APBT lived to be 13. She, too, was a loving family dog who never showed aggression toward any person.)

Sounds like there's more than one adult who failed to protect this child...absolutely unacceptable.

I'm sorry...but if you own an obviously vicious dog...which you apparently have fostered and allowed as the owner and master of that beast, and especially if you have been officially as responsible for injuries caused as if you did them with your own hands.

Very poor...very unacceptable.

what idiot says "dont worry, it always growls like that" when a dog is scaring a 10 year old. Another case of stupid owners.

There are only a few reasons people have pitbulls.

1. Wannabe street thugs who aren't tough enough to stir up trouble and handle it themselves so they let the dog intimidate everyone. 2. Drug dealers or users who use the dogs to guard their stashes. 3. People who use them for fighting.

Pitbulls should be outlawed in all urban communities. I don't buy into the crap that people spout off that these "poor" dogs aren't innately vicious. They are. All it takes is one time for someone or something to trigger these dogs and then you end up with s situation like this.
