April 7, 2013

MOUNDSVILLE — As he sat through the last in a series of interviews last month, Michael Hince said he could feel the back of his shirt begin to soak with sweat....

Going in a new direction? Want some outside ideas? Looking for experience in the larger world? Have no fear! We have a perfect candidate here already! He has been here for 34 years so he is obviously knowledgeable and experienced with ideas, practices and trends outside of Marshall County!

All joking aside, please vote NO on any and every levy that comes your way.

Also, demand that the law change to permit only those who pay real property taxes to vote on the levy AND to require the levy be part of a larger election day AND require that levies can only pass if 2/3 of eligible voters vote on the levy.

Unless the Marshall County BOE and the teachers' union has some other motive, I don't know why they would oppose this.

With more than 85 percent of the levy just going to PAYROLL, clearly very little will EVER be spent on the kids UNTIL and UNLESS at LEAST a 50 percent CUT in their MASSIVE payroll is forced into effect!!

What about it Mike?

NOTHING says commitment like taking a cut in YOUR pay!!

And UNTIL and UNLESS the RESIDENTS come out in MASSIVE numbers to vote down these levies, they will ALWAYS pass since EVERY school employee and their relatives will vote to renew!!

And there are a MASSIVE number of school system employees!!!

Reading this article sounds like an adaptation of the game, "Pin the tail on the donkey." I'm not sure that a person from so deep in the forest knows what exist beyond the forest in which they stand. This also sounds like a purely political "good ole boys" appointment. Of course, who the heck are you going to attract from the outside to come to Moundsville, WV. Good luck Mr. Hince.

Not sure if Mr Hince belongs to the "old boy" network of Marshall County. The hiring of Mr Varner would suggest the possibility. Maybe after Renzella, those in charge decided to go with another type of leader

I would hope he would not listen to one thing Renzella or Simms tells him. That would be a great start. It figures he will be meeting with a lot of attorneys due to the law suits coming over the Cameron school debacle. Another worthy item would be to get all schools on the same schedule. I wouldn't shake hands with Lewicki to many times as the incompetence may rub off. Last but certainly not least would be to be open to the public about what is going on within the county schools. You go to a board meeting now and 85% is executive session. If it does not pertain to employees it should be an open meeting. Mr. Hince has a lot of image repair to do as citizens believe nothing this outgoing administration or BOE says. Be open and forthcoming with the citizens, don't try to hide everything. This would be a very positive start.
