mikeyd, I would agree with you except now its too late. Most if not all original polluters are gone, and their secessor's (sic) can now plead ex post facto to any attempt to make them liable.

Right on uglyassmf. I think you should run for mayor next time. We need to get rid of the dead beat people who make these decisions-all of them.

It amazes me how corporation come to a state and municipality via tax breaks. They make as much money as they can. File Bankruptcy and screw as as many employees out of retirement money and promised benefits that they can. Leave with as much money as they can and aren't forced to clean up the mess that they leave behind. I agree with a previous poster. Make the corporations responsible for the pollutiopn pay for the clean up and if that isn't possible in the future when a corporation asks for bankruptcy have an out side agency estimate the clean up cost and force them to put up the cash in a private fund. If they can't sell the property with in say 6 months then make them clean up the mess. I am so sick of corporations getting all the tax breaks and then crapping all over every one in the community once they feel it just isn't enough profit for them anymore.

The OV is already full of non profits.

Creating yet another non profit is not the answer. The non profits have done nothing to rebuild the OV or WV.They are a drain;a negative not a positive. As an example, tens of millions were poured into Downtown via non profits with counterproductive results.

Why not give the money or incentives to the for-profits who will actually use the sites.A middle man-buracracy- is not needed.
