Doesn't sales tax pass through? I don't understand how it hurts profits when the vendor collects and then passes on to the state. Hard to believe someone won't pay for entertainment just because of added sales tax.

For those of you crying foul, doesn't this idea fall in line with Obama's "everyone needs to pay their fair share" mantra?

Is the definition of fairness changeable depending on the beneficiary?

The part of lowering our income tax is missed by all of you. This puts your money in your hands to use it how you please. if you wish to spend it on entertainment ten you pay a little extra, but if you need it for other items in your budget you will ave those extra dollars. makes sense. If you don't want to pay the tax don't go. I would much rather decide who gets my tax dollars than the government.

Just the typical Politian. They lie before and after the fee or tax is put into effect because the need a pay raise. If the say no more new taxes watch out for fees and is they say no new fees watch out for taxes. But, they will never say the politican will take a pay cut.

This is a rediculous proposal. We have gas and oil drilling going on all over the state and this bozo wants to raise taxes. Voinavich did the same thing. He called them fees. I have anidea. how about all of the state employees take a 10% pay cut including the politicians. Also lets cut there benefit packages in half. Not just the ones who pay union dues. all of them. Some of these people make well over 75 grand grand a year and should not be on state health care.

Texas is a place that prizes small government, low taxes and deregulation and is booming in the bad times. Their House and Senate are paid 7200 annually for their part time job. Now this might save Ohio and WV money if they would come up with this idea.

Why do these states where a drilling "boom" is going on continue to have an income tax????

If this is such aa great money maker then the income tax should be ELIMINATED in Ohio and West Virginia!!

Taxing a man's labors is a low and dispicable act of a tyrannical government!!

I think myself that we have more machinery of government than is necessary, too many parasites living on the labor of the industrious.-Thomas Jefferson

Got to agree with Jefferson on this!!

How Government works:

If it moves, tax it!

If it CONTINUES moving, REGULATE IT!

When it STOPS moving, SUBSIDIZE IT!

sure, expand the taxes to cover more items, more services...cut the rate for now, but have in place ready to raise it back up when they need more money...Ohio is not the great state it once was...Texas is looking better every day
