Just another in a long list of proposals that clearly demonstrate that Obama has absolutely no idea how an economy works in a capitalist, market-oriented system!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What would you expect from a POTUS with ZERO business experience??

Never ran a lemonade stand or paper route as a kid.

Never worked in private industry or started a company as an adult.

Never had to sweat payroll or dip into his personal savings to keep a company afloat.

Purely got by on Affirmative Action, government grants to FOREIGN students (which he was likely NOT), handouts from the wealthy, crony capitalists, etc.

Just suxed on the Government Teats.

Somebody told him that his "fiscal cliff" demands had caused the minimum wage workers 50 to 60 dollars a month in tax increases, so in all of his communist brilliance he has decided that employers should pay for his mistake. Communists and Democrats NEVER accept responsibility for their own actions!

Nailed it wraith. Affirmative Action even required diversity in officiating of the Super Bowl this year, putting one of the lowest ranked NFL officials on the field because of the color of his skin. And oh how he su-cked. Not unlike our Affirmative Action POTUS. What a joke!!!!

Owwww Mannnnnnnn i'm in a gang now! I love it, makes me feel good to be a part of something bigger than myself! Obama really has no concept of how a free market economy works. Thats the kind where supply and demand keep the economy in equilibrium. Producers create demand by introducing products and services that consumers want. The government produces nothing, adds value to nothing and creates nothing. Obama understands everything he is doing and he knows that what he is doing is only to grow the government and destroy the free market economy even further. Why isn't he raising a stink about Goldman Sachs and the great Heinz fraud? Because a Communist Democrat (Kerry) is making a lot of money that's why.

Well imphat the rocket scientist, here is how a SMALL business works:

Suppose you have 20 hourly workers making $7.25 an hour so that is a payroll of $290 a week times 20 = $5800.

So say with other salaries and my costs are $8000 a week and I sell product worth $9000 a week giving a modest $1000 a week for the owner.

Now the GOVERNMENT raises my labor cost to $360 a week per employee. So that costs me $7200 a week plus my other costs, assuming they remain the same, are = $9400 to stay in business.

BUT I can only sell $9000 worth of product.

I have 4 choices:

• Raise the price of my product to produce $10,400 a week in sales. Maybe I LOSE 100% of my business?

• Cut the staff of 20 down to 16 so that my labor costs are still $5800 and overwork a staff of 16

• Automate and reduce my staff to 10

• Outsource to China and reduce my staff to ZERO

Notice: 3 of the 4 choices results in LESS employment.

Get it, rocket scientist???

Why is there a minimum wage? You see the type of work and effort you get from paying people that low? They don't even want to show up at $10-$15 an hour.

Now in my previous example, Obama THINKS the Owner is making $10,000 a week and can afford to GIVE BACK a little more to the workers.

OR he can RAISE his prices and his CUSTOMERS will PAY FOR IT.

Of course, if I have COMPETITION, THEY can go outsource to China and undercut me first.

So WONDER WHY so many companies are outsourcing or laying OFF but making record profit????

Thanks, Opie, you are a real {bleep}ing genius!!!

Wraith; I would postulate that Obama has long been prepared for exactly what he is doing. Not only is his business acumen less than zero, his policymaking ability hovers just above that. He targets, isolates, and vilifies to advance agendas. Cooperation is nowhere in sight and it never will be.

Not everybody is in low tech service business cleaning septic tanks, idiot a&&wipe, we are talking about a REAL business that makes products and has to compete at a global level.

Repubtards are all big business. Will raising the min cause a raise in unemployment? Yes, but only very slightly

When you give people living in poverty more money, guess what, they spend it.

When you give the "job creators" more money, guess what, they deposit it in their off-shore Cayman accounts.

When people living in poverty get more money and they spend it, consumer demand for product goes up, manufacturing increases, the job creators are eventually forced to hire more production labor, the economy sees upticks in indexing and the cascade of positive continues . . . . . well, unless you're a greedy pig, then your taxes might increase, you have to pay more for labor costs leaving you with less for your Cayman account and your anticipated third vacation home .

If you think government isn't greedy look up escheat and eminent domain.

I'm confused by your post John 93; which comes first, an increase in manufacturing or more production labor hiring?

FYI, job creators EARN money.

Big Mike, Bingo you get an A+.

Try to explain that to idiots like whgfailure, PLEASE!

THAT is why THIS is a jobless recovery. Company sales are up, some are making record profits, NO JOBS.

Because they INCREASED their outsourcing to China or INCREASED their automationn to use FEWER PEOPLE and be more price competitive.

Another factor: MEXICAN IMMIGRANT labor sends MOST of the money they earn to MEXICO. Raise the min wage, just RAISE the amount of US capital that LEAVES the country and doesn't come back.

Simple minded Stooges who think EVERYBODY makes more money and it stays in the USA are living in the 1950's.

minimun wage goes up..that's great says obummer...tax money paid on wages goes ...up too...whenever min. wage goes up most others want higher wages too..this always happens...sure it's great..higher wages..higher tax money paid to the govt...but the low paid workers should be paid more you say...this will help to raise the prices of goods that people must buy to live...it's always worked this way...always will...most people that work for min wage know it's a start to a higher wage if they do good work...
