Had framers been mentally challenegd as are todays progressive libbys, they would have limited 2nd ammendment to slingshot and spear. If Ar had been invented earlier, the constitution wouldn't prohibit them. Why didn't it say life liberty and same gender hootenanny ?

Nearly twice as many voters say there would be less violent crime if more law-abiding Americans owned guns, than if guns were banned.
In addition, while American voters generally favor strengthening gun laws, 71 percent do not think tougher laws can stop shootings like the one last month in Newtown, Connecticut. Some 22 percent say new laws can prevent the next Sandy Hook.
These are just some of the findings from a Fox News poll released Friday. Majorities of gun owners (81 percent), non-gun owners (58 percent), Democrats (58 percent), independents (72 percent) and Republicans (85 percent) say the people who do these kinds of things “will always find the guns” to commit violent acts.
Give it UP, LOSERS!

How many women and children have been killed by the Obamanation Drone War?
Way more than by "assault weapons" in the USA.

It's all about "protecting the children". Well, back in 1993 the government, under Bill Clinton and Janet Reno murdered 21 children. Some were shot and some were burned alive by the ATF and FBI. This was done in an attempt to disarm some law abiding citizens. The place was called Waco.
Just how many children will die if this tyrannt attempts to disarm the entire country?
In addition, obama took an oathe to defend and protect the Constitution. If he tries to circumvent the Second Amendment, it will be he that needs to be tried for treason.

More wisdom from the Founders, impact. You libs need a refresher.
A militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves...and include all men capable of bearing arms. - Richard Henry Lee, 1788
Necessity is the plea for infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves. -William Pitt, 1783
As civil rulers, not having their duty to the people duly before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which must be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow citizens, the people are confirmed by the article in their right to keep and bear their private arms. – Tench Coxe, 1789
And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms... The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. - Thomas Jefferson, 1787

impact “trollsucker finally said it at 8:05. They want these guns to fight a tyrannical government...ours.”
impact, I’m flattered you would credit that wisdom to me, but I’m only paraphrasing wisdom that was better stated many times and in many ways by our Founding Fathers. You respect the wisdom of the Founding Fathers, as enshrined in the Constitution, don’t you?
The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword, because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force far superior to any band of regular troops. - Noah Webster, 1787
... the advantage of being armed which Americans posses over the people of almost every other nation ... (where) the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. - James Madison, The Federalist, No.46
To preserve liberty it is essential that the whole body of the people always posses arms. - Richard Henry Lee, 1788

"Firearms are second only to the Constitution in importance; they are the peoples' liberty's teeth." George Washington
Just a bit of trivia, George Washington was the 1st President of the United States and Founding Father. Also, he was the General who led the Colonies to victory over the tyrannical British government.

trollsucker finally said it at 8:05. They want these guns to fight a tyrannical government...ours. They define "tyrannical" as any government that doesn't agree with them. Sounds like he's warming up for a little treason right now.

Icecream said:
WHAT YOU ARE NOT GETTING!!! IS THE INFLUENCE OF THE NRA LOBBY TO BLOCK A UNIVERSAL BACKGROUND CHECK TO KEEP GUNS OUT OF THE MENTALLY OR CRIMINALLY ILL PEOPLE'S HANDS....
What your not getting is a federal background check would cover about 40% of all gun transactions. This would prevent convicted crimials and those that are mentally ill that are on record from getting guns at the point of sale. But criminals will get guns with the large magazines from, guess who, other criminals. And it would not have stopped Adam Lanza or James Holmes because their weapons were bought from licensed dealers. 80% of all criminals buy their guns from private sellers or steal them.
I don't see much in these proposals that are beneficial. Put armed deputies in ours schools!

one who tells the truth has no problem remembering it..one who lies often has trouble even knowing the truth..Why does Obama not even know how many children were murdered that day if he is really so concerned? Why does the President with hold the truth from the courts and the American people on Fast and Furious? Why is Eric Holder still employed by the president if the 2000 high capacity high powered weapons sold to the mexican drug cartells by these liars in high places of our Govt have nothing to hide from us? The people that they are supposed to represent. And at the same time they say they want to protect the public from guns? it's the same old fuzzy math. 2+2= 24 because we say it does and because we in Charge of the Govt. know best and we will tell you the people what you shall comply with.

If Republicans proposed this stuff, the media would insist it was a push to get liberals and illegals off the voter eligibility befor 2016 election .

“Regulation within boundaries.” ok. I want to decide who the rules apply to. Imagine all the confiscated magazine being sent fast and furious to third world countries. Maybe melted down in chiner and sold back to American consumers as fly swatter handles.

STATE YOUR IDEAS FOR PUBLIC SAFETY! excellent post. well, we need more money badly. we must end the costly bad habit of exempting Indian tribes and reservations from all the fees, taxes, debt obligations suffered by non Indian Americans. That reservation land can better serve all Americans. Prime real estate there. Promises of long ago ? Pshaw, the constitution of long age says what it says also.

“Regulation within boundaries.” Sounds fair enough. I’ll set the boundaries, and you can write the regulation. Any problem with that?

Don't need to join the media as I've been there and done that as a working journalist. This forum is just one example of our ability to speak freely, and it's great that we are sharing ideas and exploring the issue. This isn't just a constitutional issue, but a common sense issue where regulation within boundaries just might stop another mass killing and not preclude responsible people from enjoying their right to bear arms.

Icecream, you are clearly mentally ill and hence not eligible to buy a gun.
That's my plan, keep guns out of the hands of liberals.
Liberalism IS a mental illness.

You know what, icecream? NOTHING is 100% safe. EVERYTHING involves risk. There are MANY TIMES more deaths from auto accidents than deaths from gun violence. And there is NO Constitutional right to auto ownership and operation, and auto ownership and operation is highly regulated. Do we need more auto licensing laws?
The Constitution guarantees Americans have the right to bear arms to defend themselves against a tyrannical Government, and this Government becomes more tyrannical every day. Which is EXACTLY why this Government is taking advantage of the deaths of children to advance it’s agenda to infringe on that Constitutional right. And you Obama sycophants are playing right along. Fools.

florida, how about if you want a right to free speech join the media? I suppose collectors of statements critical of the Government could keep and responsibly read those in private for their own enjoyment. The key is making no public speech the Government determines to be irresponsible.
Or if you want freedom of religion join the clergy. Not the Mormon, Jewish, or Catholic clergy, though. What’s Reverend Wright’s church again? That one is ok. Just don't go preaching in public.
