the owner of this dog prompted it to be mean.that's what makes these dogs mean.it's all in the training.these are good dogs if it weren't for people training them to be mean.i've owned pitbulls before and they have all been good dogs.a mean person can make anybody or any dog mean.look at the owner.

the hysteria over pit bulls is like that of guns, the pit bull will not harm others by its nature the dog has to be made to be aggressive. It seems that most have these dogs, and make them aggressive to show off something or other. They don't come mean and aggressive at birth, its conditioning that causes the dog to bite. They are very strong dogs and so when made mean they can do some damage simply because they are so capable.

That is not true that they have to be made mean, that is 1 breed never to trust from past breeding practices have made them very dangerous to have around. I have been around and had dogs most of my life and certain breeds are by past breeding are just bad and that is 1 of them.

cut me a break.anyone that knows dogs knows that they are not born mean.they are trained by their owners, period[all dogs].i even have a chow that isn't mean.the owner of the dog is the person responsible for this.if you have a mean pitbull then "someone"has made it that way.

Mean/not mean. Trained/not trained. One more reason to have a gun handy. OOPS- then I would be arrested for protecting myself.

Temperament is in a breed and some time can be changed a little. Just take a Border Collie the have the herding instinct and try to change their running in circles and you will never succeed. Same with Pit bulls they have a certain temperament of being a one person dog and can be vicious because of breeding and it will take years to take that out of the breed if at all.

Some breeds have a "prey" instinct, other breeds have a protection instinct. It is up to the owner to supervise the pet or suffer the consequences. My prayers to the injured. A smack upside the head to the owner who allowed this to happen. Dogs are not by nature evil. They are animals and ruled by their animal nature.
