Dead as a Deer on the Highway
September 6, 2007 - Heather Ziegler
Same place, three days in a row. The same dead deer carcass can be found on Interstate 70 at the southbound W.Va. 2 ramp. I don't even know how the deer found its way there anyhow, but could someone please remove it? While you're at it, how about the car parts and filth along the interstate especially near the tunnels. It's bad enough travelers passing through our area have to see the deplorable shape of the tunnels. They shouldn't have to see our dirty laundry, too. Years ago former Mayor Jack Lipphardt tried to initiate a project to spruce up the entrances to Wheeling via the tunnel, Elm Grove, etc. Good idea but lost in the waning years. Thank goodness for the Lions clubs and the Wheeling Park Commission which takes care of some of the park-like settings with beautiful flowers and signs that are fresh and inviting.
